Paul Newman

“We are such spendthrifts with our lives,” Mr. Newman once told a reporter. “The trick of living is to slip on and off the planet with the least fuss you can muster. I’m not running for sainthood. I just happen to think that in life we need to be a little like the farmer, who puts back into the soil what he takes out.” -- New York Times, September 27, 2008

  1. What a wise gentleman,he lived a full life but I'm sad that he's gone anyway.

  2. Hello buttercup --

Yes, Newman was such a compassionate, articulate, and talented man. He made a real difference but did it so quietly and with grace, humility!

Things continue to go up-and-down with me. WBC is up, fevers again, which just doesn't even seem possible, given the i.v. antibiotics. Increasing pain in the *left* shoulder -- the good news is that the pain in the *right* (just operated) one is much better. How's that for a pity-party answer? I will be okay -- as soon as everything gets fixed at the same time! Thank you for asking -- you are very kind.
